The Cradle of Humankind and Sterkfontein Caves tour will give you the opportunity to understand our true origin as human beings. Proceeding to Maropeng Visitors Centre which is 15 km drive from Sterkfontein Caves, there is a very creative way in which the history of humankind is told and an open museum of South African History which was recently created. Sandton (Pass by)
Pick up at your hotel is confirmed 24hours before starting time. We will start our journey to the Cradle of Humankind proceeding through M5 passing Krugersdorp. Krugersdorp is a mining town in the West Rand founded in 1887. At Krugersdorp, we also pass Walter Sisulu Botanical Garden, proceeding to Mudersdrift situated northwest of Johannesburg between Johannesburg and Magaliesburg.

1Sterkfontein Caves
We stop at Sterkfontein Cave, as the guide assists guests with formalities before proceeding with the tour. The tour will start off at the fascinating display museum, where guests will see the cave formations and geology, early life forms, mammals, and hominid fossils. You will also be introduced to “Mrs. Ples”, the “Taung Child” and “Little Foot”. Thereafter you proceed to explore the caves where you will discover many hominid and other animal fossils dated more than 4 million years ago. The caves are temporarily closed due to heavy rains. We awaiting further update.

2Maropeng Visitor Centre
We make our way to Maropeng Visitor Centre, upon your arrival enjoy a self-guided tour to explore the centre the development of the planet and the evolution of the current world. At the centre, you will learn more about humankind born, encounter the stone tools that are 1 million years old.

3Lion and Safari Park
Upon arrival at Lion Park, your guide will be there to assist through the entrance procedures. The park dedicated guide will address a few safari rules before departing on a shared game drive in a 4x4 vehicle. Depart for a 1-hour game drive the guide will be sharing their knowledge of the fauna and flora. On the safari drive, you will spot lions, wild dogs, antelopes, cheetahs. Thereafter an amazing thrilling safari experience, visit the giraffe center for a close encounter with the tallest animal and feed them while other animals are there. After a very authentic experience, purchase gifts at the curio shop.
