Soon after pick up at your accommodation between 8:30 and 9:30am we will take a scenic drive on our full day Cape Winelands shared day tour from Cape Town to Stellenbosch and Franschhoek.
Our first stop for the day will be at the unique DeMorgenzon wine estate (DMZ) in Stellenbosch. DMZ produces award-winning Chardonnay and has received awards for some of the best Chardonnay produced in the entire world. Situated 200 to 400m above sea level, DMZ vistas embrace Cape Town, Table Mountain, Cape Point, Cape Hangklip and Simonsberg. At DMZ you will find musical speakers strategically placed throughout the vineyards. DMZ believe that the vines listen to the classical music being played to produce extraordinary grapes.
After our first wine tasting, we continue to take a Stellenbosch town orientation tour. Home to over 200 award-winning wine estates, Stellenbosch is also the second oldest town in South Africa. Your tour guide/driver will share stories about the Dutch-style buildings/monumental houses as well as the world famous Stellenbosch University. Stellenbosch University is set amongst the Boland Mountains, provides a unique academic environment for students and enrolls more than 30000 students per annum.
The tour leads us to Delheim Wine Estate. the charm of family-run Delheim Wine Estate with an exclusive tasting of 5 premium wines, expertly paired with a decadent Sophisticated lunch included in your all-inclusive package. Experience our signature main courses, such as slow-roasted lamb shank with Merlot jus, pan-seared line fish with seasonal vegetables, or a vegetarian wild mushroom risotto with Parmesan. After your second wine tasting and Sophisticated lunch your journey will lead us through Pniel, a historic town founded by French settlers in the 1680s, giving Franschhoek its name—"French Corner." Surrounded by majestic mountains and lush vineyards, Franschhoek offers a stunning blend of natural beauty and cultivated elegance. Explore the charming shops, including art galleries, jewelry, fine leather, clothing, and chocolates. Our exclusive tour promises a perfect fusion of history, luxury, and local artistry—an experience unmatched by any other.
After exploring the charming town, your tour moves to the Franschhoek Wine Tram terminal for an exclusive, luxury wine tram experience. Your expert guide will provide your tram tickets and personalized instructions on how to navigate the tram’s timetable and routes. The scenic tram journey, usually around 8 minutes between stops, offers you the freedom to hop off at two carefully selected premium farms, with the possibility of a third visit if time allows. This harmonious blend of picturesque tram rides and tailored vineyard visits delivers a unique, flexible wine tasting adventure across one of South Africa’s most celebrated wine regions—positioning us as the ultimate, most memorable Winelands experience available.
Departing from Franschhoek, we arrive at Groot Drakenstein Prison - formerly Victor Verster prison. Here we will take a unique photo with the monument of former president Nelson Mandela. (Please note that we are not allowed to enter into the prison.) This is where Nelson Mandela spent his last 2 years of his 27 year imprisonment as a political prisoner.
