The Giza Pyramid Complex is an archeological site located on the Giza Plateau in Greater Cairo, Egypt that includes the three Great Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, several cemeteries, a workers' village and an industrial complex. The three primary pyramids on the Giza plateau were built over the span of three generations by the rulers Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. The largest pyramid is attributed to Pharaoh Khufu and is the oldest and largest of the three, rising some 481 feet (147 meters) above the plateau. The other two pyramids, attributed to Khufu’s successors Khafre and Menkaure, are fairly smaller. The complex also includes the mortuary temples and several smaller pyramids, such as the Queens’ pyramids, and the Valley pyramids.
