    The Red Pyramid, also called the North Pyramid, is the largest of the pyramids located at the Dahshur necropolis in Cairo, Egypt. Named for the rusty reddish hue of its limestone stones, the Red Pyramid was the third pyramid built by Pharaoh Sneferu, and is thought to have been built around 2590 BCE. It is the first successful attempt at a true pyramid, and is the third largest pyramid in Egypt. The pyramid is around 218m (716ft) wide at the base, and is 104m (341ft) high. The original casing of the pyramid was made of white limestone.This is a great excursion to see the development of Ancient Egyptian building techniques all in one day.
