The 3 Days Nyungwe National Park safari gives you an insight of the spectacular natural beauty and wonders of Rwanda’s only forest National park that offers you exciting activities such as chimpanzee trekking, a canopy walk, nature walks, visiting one of the tea estates with an amazing stopover at King's palace in Nyanza
We will pick you up upon arrival at the Airport or from your hotel within Kigali. The driver will be waiting for you with a sign bearing your full names and company logo details.
At 9:00 am, you will be picked up from hotel by the driver Guide who will take you for a brief City tour in Kigali (the genocide memorial center). Thereafter drive to Butare with amazing views of the countless hills of Rwanda with stops at the Kamegeri’s rock, the National Ethnographic Museum in Huye, Murambi Genocide Memorial and the former King’s palace. The Museum is houses a collection of artifacts and ethnographic objects from Belgium, Rwanda and other parts of the world. Much of the museum showcases all the cultural aspects of the country and the people. Lunch will be taken from a restaurant in one of the sites. You will check-in and proceed to register for the canopy walk. The amazing canopy walk takes you across a hanging platform which crosses over the tall and majestic trees of Nyungwe. The hanging platform is built 50 meters above the ground and is 200 meters long. You will have an aerial view of the forest enabling you to spot birds and more of the primates feeding.
Wake up early for breakfast at the lodge and prepare for a long day of activities. The driver will take you for the briefing which starts at Uwinka. And then park officials will assign you one of the trails depending on the number of participants. During chimpanzee tracking, expect to spot 12 smaller species of primate including owl-faced monkey, Dent’s Mona Monkeys, Silver monkeys, Olive Baboons, Red-tailed Monkeys, grey-cheeked Mangabeys, and l’hoest’s monkeys. Nyungwe forest is every birder’s dream destination with a medley of colorful bird species like the Rwenzori Turaco, great blue Turaco, and forest hornbills. During the trek, the park guides will share information about each of the species encountered – their behavior, feeding and reproductive habits. The waterfall trail is popular and takes 3 hours to complete. If time permits, you could be taken to track Angola Colobus in Gisakura. Later check in at the lodge for an overnight.
At 9:00 am, the driver guide will take you to Gisakura Tea Estate for a tour of the farm and factory. While at the tea estate, you will learn how tea is grown, processed and packed at the factory.
