The journey begins with a comfortable minibus from Bergen, heading east into a winter wonderland. Our first stop is at the majestic Tvindefossen waterfall. Before reaching this enchanting sight, we pause in the cozy Dale village for 15 minutes—perfect for a hot coffee, snacks, and a quick toilet break. Further on, we arrive in Gudvangen, where you will enjoy a peaceful electric cruise through the icy, shimmering Nærøyfjorden, arriving in Flåm. We’ll have about 30-45 minutes for lunch and sightseeing, surrounded by the tranquil winter scenery. In Flåm, your guide will meet you before the tour continues to Aurland. Next, you’ll embark on the breathtaking drive up to the Stegastein viewpoint. The platform extends 30 meters from the mountainside, perched 650 meters above the snow-laden fjord below, offering unparalleled panoramic views of Norway’s winter panorama. The scenic route from Aurland to Stegastein winds through snowy mountains along the National Scenic Routes of Norway.
We recommend you meet up at 7.45 am latest. Meet-up is outside the Tourist Information located at address: Strandkaien 1. Scandic Hotel Torget is just across the street. Look for a black Mercedes Sprinter Minibus. We will not take responsibility if you are too late and miss out on the tour.
We will stop at Dale village at a local cafe where they have local snacks and drinks/coffee/toilets. Also they sell local clothing and has a good selection of yarn and knitted sweaters.
15-20 min. stop at Tvindefossen Waterfall. Standing tall at an impressive 116 meters (381 ft), this natural wonder is more than just your average cascade. Fed by the Kroelvi stream, it dramatically tumbles over a receding cliff, showcasing nature's raw power and sheer beauty. What makes Tvindefossen one of the best waterfalls in Norway isn't just its height or the mesmerizing water flow; it's the legends and history that envelop it, giving this spot a mystical aura. You might chuckle at first, but there's a local legend that has turned into quite the talking point.
This is the place that holds Viking Village. Gudvangen, embraced by massive, towering mountains of the Nærøydalen valley, is a place where past and present converge, and the beauty of the natural world envelops you at every turn. Here you have the possibility to have a lunch in the village. Here you can buy lunch if you wish to.
2 hour cruise through Nærøyfjorden. The narrow and spectacular Nærøyfjord is surrounded by steep valley sides and snow-covered peaks that rise 1,800 metres above sea level, with thundering waterfalls and picturesque villages along the fjord. Regardless of the season, a cruise on the Nærøyfjord will be an unforgettable experience. The two vessels Vision and Future of The Fjords represent a brand-new standard in design and technology. They have been designed to maximise the tourist experience during any kind of weather, with large windows and walkways inspired by the winding trails of steep mountain terrain. Passengers are encouraged to go out on the top deck and enjoy a very different experience compared to traditional passenger vessels. They also sell food on the cruise. We will arrive in Flåm at 2.00 pm.
Flåm is the most popular village around the Aurlandsfjord, and one of Norway’s most popular tourist destinations. The village has had a history of tourism dating back over 100 years, to when rich, British tourists would come to the fjords to fish salmon in the rivers here. Flåm is small, with around 400 inhabitants. However, in the high season, we sometimes have over 10’000 visitors in a day! As you can tell, it can get quite busy, as Flåm is not only a popular place to stay and visit, but also the starting point for many of the tours and activities in the area. You can buy food here.
From Aurland, we will start the amazing climbing to the top of the Stegastein viewpoint. Stegastein has a unique and spectacular viewing platform that hangs 30 meters from the mountainside, 650 meters above the fjord, and offers an unparalleled panoramic view. The road from Aurland to Stegastein is part of National Scenic Routes in Norway. We will have the opportunity to take picture and go at the platform and see the amazing view.
