Shirakawa-go is a famous UNESCO World Heritage village known for its traditional gassho-zukuri farmhouses with steep thatched roofs designed to withstand heavy snowfall. Surrounded by beautiful mountains and rivers, the village offers visitors a chance to experience Japan’s rural culture, scenic landscapes, and historic atmosphere throughout all seasons. Some attractions inside the village, such as Wada House, require a separate entrance fee.
