The ideal times to explore the park are at 7:00 AM or 6:00 PM, when the animals are most active. During the day, the heat drives them into the shade, making sightings less frequent. For your safari, we left Tangalle at 4:30 AM, arriving at the park around dawn. The early start was rewarded with breathtaking views of Sri Lanka awakening—golden light spreading across paddy fields, water buffalo grazing, and peacocks strutting fearlessly on the roads. Along the way, we also glimpsed local life, including serene morning devotions to Lord Buddha

The excitement began even before we entered the park gates, as an elephant wandered onto the roadside for a leisurely snack—an unforgettable start to your journey! Once inside, we spent 2–3 hours navigating the park’s rugged terrain in your private jeep. The ride can get bumpy, but the experience is worth every jolt. We were mesmerized by the sheer number of elephants, often in large groups with adorable calves in tow. Watching these gentle giants in their natural environment—unbothered by the jeeps—is a humbling experience. The drivers are respectful of the animals, maintaining a balance that ensures neither the wildlife nor the visitors feel intruded upon. Beyond elephants, the park is teeming with other wildlife. We spotted crocodiles, water buffalo, and a stunning array of birds, making every moment of the safari thrilling and memorable.
