Welcome to a new year at the San José Museum of Art. If you had the chance to explore Tending and Dreaming—our permanent collection galleries—in 2025, we invite you to return in 2026 to experience new acquisitions going on view for the first time. Be sure to catch Pao Houa Her: The Imaginative Landscape, and Young Bay Mud before these exhibitions close on February 22. With fresh eyes for a new year, you’ll have the chance to experience these shows anew. We hope you’ll join us to see what you think.
Speaking of what’s new, it’s been an exciting first few months after joining the Museum as Oshman Director and CEO in October 2025. I’ve been inspired by the rich layers of culture and community present in San José and Silicon Valley. Through the stories we tell in the galleries, connections we forge in classrooms, and the ideas we exchange through our partnership programs, these layers intertwine in so many unexpected ways each day at the Museum.
We are an art museum that nurtures empathy and connection by engaging communities with socially relevant contemporary art. With every visit, you’ll see exhibitions that explore the art of our time through painting, sculpture, film, and new media—there’s something for everyone!
