Next, you'll explore one of China's most stunning ancient villages, Hongcun Village. Your itinerary is tailored to your interest and it can be flexibly adjusted. The visit order of Huangshan, Hongcun, and Tunxi based on your arrival and departure times, allowing you more time at your favorite spots.
It's located in the center of the old city of Tunxi, there are hundreds of old but well preserved rows of shops, evoking a bygone era in buildings that are simple and elegant. There you can enjoy a leisurely walk among the ancient buildings and look around to search for a bargain.
Hu Kaiwen Ink Factory, a hidden gem nestled in Tunxi Old Street. It's a historic site is renowned for producing the finest traditional Chinese ink. Established centuries ago, the factory showcases the intricate process of ink-making, preserving ancient techniques passed down through generations. You can witness the craftsmanship involved in creating high-quality ink sticks, explore the rich cultural heritage. It's a fascinating glimpse into China's artistic and cultural history.
Today you will spend a day and a night on Mt.Huang. It takes about one hour from central Huangshan City to reach the foot of Mt.Huang. Your appreciation of the graceful Mt.Huang begins with the Yungu cable car. Don't miss the magnificent scenery along your 10-minute journey. For an energetic hiker in good shape: Descend the cable car, walk for about 30 minutes via mostly down stairs to arrive at the hotel, and see Umbrella Pine and Black Tiger Pine along the way. After buffet lunch at the hotel, explore the West Sea Grand Canyon. The whole hiking trip lasts for over three hours, covering the 1st ring, 2nd ring, and bottom of the canyon. If time and strength permit, you can further explore the Flying-over Rock and watch the sunset at Bright Top. It takes about 40 minutes to get from Bright Top back to the hotel.
Yungu Temple is at the foot of Mt. Huangshan, and you'll take a cableway here to upper Huangshan Mountain.
After cableway, walk to lofty Shixin Peak (Begin-to-Believe Peak, 1668m) to stretch your eyesight over cloud seas to far distance.
Start on a captivating 40-minute hike to the Dispelling Cloud Pavilion, where you'll gaze upon the enchanting Dreamland of the West Sea Grand Canyon. As you descend the stone steps into the canyon's depths, immerse yourself in a landscape reminiscent of "Avatar" with its soaring rock peaks, mysterious cliffs, peculiar stones, and resilient pine trees. The West Sea Grand Canyon is closed annually from December to late March due to heavy snowfall and hazardous icy conditions. In this case, you'll spend more time at other spots on the mountain.
If you have the time and energy, dedicate an hour to exploring the breathtaking Sky Sea Scenic Area. Witness the stunning sunset from Bright Summit, the 2nd highest peak at 1840 meters. Marvel at the incredible Flying-over Rock before retreating to your mountain hotel for a good rest.
Rise early and take the chance to photograph the sunrise at Refreshing Terrace, which is highly recommended by our past customers who have visited the Yellow Mountains. After breakfast in the hotel, walk to Lion Peak to see the Dawn Pavilion, Stone Monkey Watching the Sea, and all shapes of pines along the route. You can also climb up to Beginning-to-Believe Peak and overlook the Mushroom Pavilion. Your discovery of the Yellow Mountains will finish with the Yungu Cableway and back to the Yungu Temple. Your guide will take you to get all your luggage and board the vehicle, and then transfer to the airport, train station or bus station for your departure.
