On this tour, spend a day experiencing "neputa," Aomori Prefecture's summer tradition, as you lay your eyes on large neputa floats paraded in the Aomori Neputa Festival and create a lantern by reusing neputa paintings actually used in the festival. You will surely be fascinated by the vivid colors of Aomori's nebuta floats. Families traveling with their kids in tow can feel free to join as a hired car is used for transportation. The tour is accompanied by a National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter.

Please meet at the stairs inside the entrance of the Nebuta Museum Wa Rasse, located within the Aomori City Cultural and Tourism Exchange Facility, by 10:30 am.

    This facility lets you experience the history and wonder of Aomori's Nebuta Festival all year round. Massive floats that parade the streets during the festival are always on display. You will surely be impressed by their powerful sight.

    At Craft Factory IRODORI, experience making a lantern reusing neputa paintings that were actually used at the festival. Neputa paintings to be used are those that are removed when the floats are dismantled. By making use of things that would normally be discarded, you can create eco-friendly lanterns using the float design.

    Designated as one of Japan's Important Traditional Building Preservation Districts, the Nakamachi Komise Street is lined with traditional structures that have kept their image since ancient times. Unique to snowy regions, the arcade-like passageway is designed to protect from snow and rain. Its appearance has remained the same since the feudal period, and is said to be a rarity in Japan. Feel free to explore the town.
