Hoi An is renowned for its beautiful Old Town, decorated by a colorful array of hanging lanterns. A rich history as a trading port makes Hoi An a mecca for all kinds of traditional Vietnamese handicraft and manufacturing. None more so than lantern making. If you are looking for an interactive experience with locals whilst in town, it’s hard to look past a lantern making workshop. These workshops are an amazing and fun way to learn about Vietnamese culture and traditional craft techniques. You finish the session with a newly earned talent and a souvenir that holds infinitely more memories than any store bought lantern ever would.

The Local lady will wait and meet you in front of Ha An Hotel at 06 Phan Boi chau Street, Hoi An. And then, she will take you to local home to join in Lantern making class

What to expect

To start, you will take chance to taste the traditional Vietnamese tea and enjoy the various flavors of tea during the lanterns making lesson. Choose between an express class that already prepares the bamboo stick for you before hand, or full class that lets you experience lanterns making from scratch! Create lanterns shaped like lotuses, triangles, garlic, or diamonds and choose your desired silk style and color. An experience English speaking instructor will be guiding you every step of the way. This fun and unique activity can be enjoyed by the entire family, even by kids as young as 3 years old.

Package Options:

Express Class : 1 hour

-Step 1: Select silk

-Step 2 : Apply glue to 4 stakes. Let dry until tacky.

-Step 3: Set silk on stakes and carefully stretch silk. One silk is correctly positioned, press the silk onto the glue.

-Step 4: Repeat silk application until the lanterns is covered.

-Step 5: Cover the stop and base of the hanger with strips of skill.

Step 6: Select a tassel for the base of the lanterns.

Step 7: Practice how to open and close your lantern and stowed your luggage to be brought home.
