1 to 4 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English and 1 more

After 20 years living on Tortola we decided there is little shown of the history of our British Virgin Islands. Tourists pass through for sun and sea, but rarely have a chance to take a moment and find out about where they are.

Take a step back in time with this self-guided walking tour (audio and written) through the heart of Road Town, Tortola.

Explore at your own pace using our downloadable app, allowing you to start and pause the tour as desired.

Guided by written and audio storytelling, the rich history, culture, and people of the British Virgin Islands is brought to life.

BYO smartphone and headphones (if you want to hear the audio) and let the streets speak to you. The APP creates a photo/video memory of the walk for you to keep.

And you get the famous "Painkiller" TM recipe.....

Once booked you will be asked for your email address to send you the direct links to download via email.

Our self-guided smartphone tour takes you deep into the stories that shaped the British Virgin Islands—from resistance and resilience to rhythm, rum, and real island flavor! Meet artisans at the colorful Crafts Alive Market, and stand at the Sunday Morning Well—where it is said the emancipation of slaves in 1834 was delcared. Step inside Her Majesty’s Prison to hear dramatic stories from the past. Sip a legendary Painkiller™ cocktail (we share the recipe!) and trace the roots of island journalism and the Island Sun Newspaper. From tropical gardens to grand colonial relics reclaimed by a proud, independent people, this tour blends reflection, fun, and discovery.
