UNESCO World Heritage Site Swyambhunath is one of the most sacred Buddhist site. It is situated at a hillock south of Kathmandu. The main stupa is believed to entomb the relics of Buddha. The Buddhist people walk around the stupa from early in the morning chanting Om Mani Padme Hum.
Kathmandu Durbar Square (UNESCO World Heritage Site) is also known as Basantapur Durbar. The square was built in Lichhavi period (4th century) which has the best of Nepalese art and architecture of wood carvings and pagoda temples. Most of The present temples were made in 17th century by king Pratap malla. There are more than 50 temples within the square premises. The major attractions are. The Taleju Temple is the tallest of all structures, built by King Mahendra Malla in 1549 AD. This temple is open to the public during the Dashain festival. Pashupatinnath, Shiva is the supreme god of the Hindu. It is situating at the bank of Bagmati river has many temples, shrines, ashram in its premises. Most of the monuments were made in 17th and 18the century by Malla dynasty. The major temples and squares are Nyatapole square is a tallest temple (108ft) in Nepal, made in 17th century by king Bhupatidra Mall. It took 3 generations to complete. The main Goddess of the temple is Siddhi Laxmi. Golden gate The English writer Percy Brown write that it is the most beautiful and richly molded specimen of its kind in the entire world. The 24 carat gold polished door is surrounded by the Hindu God and Goddess. The gate was erected by King Ranjit Malla and is the entrance to the main courtyard of the palace of fifty-five windows. The three story Dattatriya square temple is one of the oldest monument in Bhaktapur. It was built in 1486AD by kiing Yaksha Malla.
