Fiji is famous for its corals and coast, but we will take you on a journey away from the tourist resorts and walking in a landscape of dramatic peaks, pristine forests, sparkling rivers, remote villages, vibrant traditional culture and unique history. Our hikes are set up for independent-minded travellers who want to be confident that they are being respectful to traditional landowners and fairly contributing to communities, without needing to worry about logistics or losing their way!

Breakfast early and start your climb up the steep and muddy trail before the heat kicks in. The summit boasts stunning views on clear days, and the surrounding area is a designated forest reserve. The cloud forest is amazingly diverse, with several orchid species and endemic Fijian birds to keep an eye out for. The return distance is around 10km, but we allow approx 6 hours for plenty of rest stops and a break at the top.

After returning to the homestay in Navai, relax and shower before heading further along the Nadrau plateau and to the tucked away Naga village. You'll get some great views along the way. Settle in to your new surroundings and take a short walk with a community guide if you still have the energy before meeting your hosts and being formally welcomed. Enjoy a talanoa (chat) over a bowl of kava and a fresh, locally sourced dinner prepared by the village.
