Join us for a day of active sightseeing in Puerto Plata’s historic center before heading to the Dominican Countryside. Brilliantly colorful Umbrella and Pink Streets provide an array of sights, sounds and photo opportunities while the historic center, Parque Independencia is reflective of the Dominican Republic's Restoration era featuring Gregorio Luperon a central figure in the Dominican Republic's fight for independence. You will visit the cathedral and drive along the Malecon with a brief photo stop of Neptune's Statue located on an islet just off the coast. You will have a brief facilities stop at a resort area before heading to a more mountainous region passing colorful, typical houses. You will stop at a local fruit stand as well as visit a colomado which is like an old-time, corner store. Then, after visiting a mountain lodge for a sample of Dominican coffee and sweeping valley views, you will return to Playa Dorada for a stroll along the beach boardwalk and a fresh rum punch.

Pickup details:

FROM PORT TAINO BAY
You will:
1) walk from the ship along the pier
2) from the pier, take a few steps and then LEFT into the open-air welcome center (which is also DutyFree)
3) Make a LEFT inside the Welcome Center and go through Duty-Free (passing vendors offering last minute tours, Etc.) 4) EXIT Duty-Free
5) Walk along the path passing the retail shops which will be on your right (the pond will be on your left most of the way)
6) You will pass the swimming pool on your LEFT.
7) Continue along the path past retail shops and parking
8) Pass the second pool/water feature on your left
9) Pass the tour buses and taxis on your right
10) Pass the third pool/water feature on your left
11) The pedestrian exit will be the last gate on your right
12) Exit to the street/sidewalk
13) Look for our Welcome Team wearing khaki pants/shorts; white polo shirts with company logo and khaki baseball caps AND BIG SMILES
14) We will have signs that read, “Puerto Plata Adventures”

FROM PORT AMBER COVE:
You will:
1) walk from the ship along the pier
2) cross the plaza to the Duty-Free Shop 3) go through Duty Free
4) go past the tour buses (on your right)
5) go past the taxis (on your left)
6) go past the vendors trying for last-minute sales
7) cross the small “road” to the sidewalk (still inside the cruise center)
8) walk down the side walk (still inside the cruise center)
9) go past the small, pink, hut (on your left)
10) go past the small, security hut (on your right)
11) exit the large, white main gates (completely leave the cruise center – you will see the highway in front of you)
12) go to the sidewalk to your left (located about 50-yards from the main gate)
13) you might not see us right away but we will be on the sidewalk, holding signs that read, “Puerto Plata Adventures”

    Umbrella Street

    You will experience the sights and sounds of Puerto Plata's Umbrella Street while enjoying many photo opportunities. You can step into a shop, enjoy a cup of Dominican grown, organic coffee, watch as our famous Dominican cigars are rolled or simply stroll this colorful street.

    Fortaleza San Felipe

    Once at Fort San Felipe, your host will provide you information regarding Puerto Plata's colonial era and pirate-past. You will also learn of Queen Victoria's special relationship with Puerto Plata before having a bit of time to explore the grounds and take photos.

    Parque Central Independencia

    Once at Puerto Plata's historic center - Parque Independencia or "Central Park" - you will discover Victorian architecture and learn of the Dominican Republic's Restoration Period and Gregorio Luperon, a central figure in the Dominican Republic's fight for independence. You will visit the Cathedral as well as have a small amount of free-time for photos or to visit a shop in the immediate area.

    Malecon Puerto Plata

    After leaving Puerto Plata's historic center, you will drive along the Atlantic boardwalk called the, Malecon. Your host will tell the humorous story of Neptune's Statue set on an islet just off the coast and you will have time for photos before continuing along the Malecon.

    After making your way through a bustling area of Puerto Plata, you will make a brief facilities stop at Playa Dorada as well as refresh your cup of complimentary rum punch before continuing on to the Dominican countryside.

    Upon leaving Playa Dorada, you will make your way into the Dominican countryside glimpsing a way of life reflective of a bygone era. Your host will provide you fascinating information regarding life in the countryside as you pass by colorful, typical houses and small colmados. You will make photo stops as well as stop at a local colmado which is like an old-fashion, corner store which also plays a central role within each small community acting as the local canteen and social gathering place including intense Dominos tournaments. With pesos provided by your host, you will experience making a small purchase at a colmado. Continuing up the mountain road, your next stop will be an area with an incredible valley view.

    After making the scenic mountain and countryside drive return, you will have a brief amount of time at Playa Dorada to refresh your rum punch, take a stroll along the beach boardwalk or use the facilities. You will then make the return to your port.

    Paseo de Dona Blanca

    Paseo de Dona Blanca, also known as "Pink Street", is in honor of Doña Blanca Rainieri a woman who was greatly committed to her family and her community. This colorful alley way of façades represents the famous Victorian houses of Puerto Plata and is one of the most visited and photographed areas.
