Chouwen Lake hike — 3 hours inside the reserve Enter the Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve at the Chouwen trailhead and begin the easy 3-hour round-trip hike to Chouwen Lake. The marked trail winds through one of Lebanon's most ecologically rich protected landscapes — rocky mountain terrain, wild oak and cedar forest, and the kind of jaw-dropping mountain panoramas that remind you how extraordinary this country's geography is. The trail is well-maintained and suitable for all fitness levels — no technical climbing, no steep drops, just a genuinely rewarding walk through UNESCO-protected wilderness that most tourists in Beirut never bother to explore. The lake reveals itself as you round the final bend — a still, turquoise pool reflecting the mountain ridges above it, completely surrounded by nature and completely worth every step of the walk to get there.
