Located near the town gate just off the seafront, the Parish Church of Saint Sebastian dates from 1533 when construction was started on the former site of a chapel dedicated to the same saint. Your trip to Ponta Delgada will not be complete until you visit the Church of St. Sebastian. Built according to the ancient Azorean architecture, this church will entice you with its simple façade. The exterior of the church is simple in style, with oceanic murals adorning the walls. The interior, however, is beautifully ornate. The biblical murals and tastefully decorated altar are sure to stay in your heart. Do not miss the bell tower next to the church.
