We pause for a break by a shimmering loch or in a charming Highland village, taking in the fresh air and beautiful surroundings, before the next leg of our journey.
Next, it's Glencoe, one of our most iconic natural landmarks. Famous for its dramatic, rugged slopes, this stunning area has appeared in numerous films and is rich in history and folklore. You'll have time for photo stops here before lunch in the local area.
We'll then arrive in Tobermory, the island's vibrant capital, for a three-night stay. With its brightly coloured houses, Tobermory, meaning ‘Well of Mary,' is often described as one of the most picturesque harbour towns in Scotland.
You head south to Fionnphort, where you take a passenger ferry to the small island of Iona. Iona is an island of quiet charm, and is the cradle of Celtic Christianity. You have time to explore the island’s Abbey, and museum of history and Celtic heritage. There are magnificent Celtic crosses and headstones to see, or, alternatively, you can enjoy a stroll along the peaceful sandy beaches. *Please note that if you book the Abbey then you will not have time to do the boat trip.
In the afternoon, you have the opportunity to take a small boat for an optional trip to the island of Staffa, where nature enthusiasts can seek out the abundant marine life. Staffa is home to Fingal’s cave, which is one of the most amazing geological sites, and is known as ‘Nature’s cathedral’. After a day in the great outdoors, we return to Tobermory for the night. ** ** Please note that due to coronavirus restrictions it is only possible to visit the abbey OR join the Staffa boat tour. It will not be possible to do both.
