This parish, part of the municipality of Porto Moniz got its name from the abundance of pebbles on the beach. Offering staggering views from the sea level towards the cliffs and also famously known for the Bride's Veil waterfall (Véu da Noiva).
This council, surrounded by two high cliffs in both sides, is a place like no other in the island. At the edge of this village, directly next to the sea, lies a great boulder where the first chapel was built.
