The Old Medina of Casablanca is the historic heart of the city. Located near the port, it was rebuilt in the 18th century during the reign of Sultan Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdallah after an earthquake destroyed the old town. Walking through its alleys, visitors discover traditional Moroccan life — small shops selling spices, leather goods, carpets, and jewelry, as well as cafés where locals gather to drink mint tea. The air is filled with the scent of food, the sound of bargaining, and the call to prayer from nearby mosques. Unlike other Moroccan medinas, Casablanca’s Old Medina is smaller and less crowded, but it keeps an authentic charm. Many families have lived there for generations, preserving Discover colonial buildings and Art Deco architecture. Photo stop at the fountain and gardens.
