In historic Silverton, switch to open-air 4x4s for rugged terrain exploration. Discover 150-year-old mining settlements, meadows, and panoramic mountain views. Your local guide provides stories, information, and answers questions. After alpine exploration, return to Silverton for lunch and shopping. The journey's final leg is a train ride through the breathtaking Animas River Canyon. The train views differ from the shuttle, offering a remote Weminuche Wilderness perspective. Arrive at the train station for dinner.

Meeting and pickup
We meet in the Train Station Parking Lot on College Drive (Near McDonalds). Look for the Mild to Wild sign and benches to the left of the parking booth. There is a $10 fee to park for the day payable upon arrival.

Begin with a morning cruise from the meet location up the San Juan Skyway to Silverton, featuring dramatic views of 14,000 ft. peaks. Once in Silverton, you will switch over to our 4x4 Jeeps.

The jeep tour will bring you into the heart of the San Juans. Discover 150-year-old mining settlements, meadows, and panoramic mountain views. Your guide provides stories, information, and answers questions.

2Silverton
After the jeep tour, you will spend about an hour in Silverton where you will explore this small mountain town, eat some lunch and shop. The train station is located in town as well, where you will begin the next portion of your journey!

3San Juan National Forest
As you take the train from Silverton to Durango, you will travel through the incredible Animas River Canyon in the San Juan National Forest. With towering mountain peaks in the background and the stunningly blue river below, you will truly see the best that Colorado has to offer! Please note, you will need to purchase your train ticket separately.
