Waterton Winter Wonderland

Offered in: English

To write a great story, you’ve probably learned to answer the five W’s: what, who, where, when, and why. But Waterton? It’s got its own set of W’s that are as wild as its landscape: wildfire, wildlife, water, and wind. These elements come together to tell a tale of how this National Park in the Canadian Rockies became the stunning beauty it is today. Dive in and discover how Waterton’s own adventures have shaped this unforgettable place!

What to expect

Your storytelling adventure begins at Little Prairie Day Use Area. Outhouses are available at the trailhead.

We will complete introductions, a safety talk, and distribute outdoor gear (snowshoes or microspikes for ice along the trail). We will then start introducing you to the four w’s of Waterton and connect you to this beautiful place.

As we hike up the trail, we will stop to go over the stories of Waterton. We do not complete this tour at a fast pace, as we want you to be connected and to discover nature and all that Waterton has to offer.

We will head to Cameron Lake where you will have some time to enjoy a hot beverage and gourmet snack. Take this time to enjoy the view, take pictures, and continue to listen to stories from your personal guide illustrating Waterton’s story.

We will head back a similar way to our route into the lake. We will finish the tour by ensuring that you become a part of your own Waterton’s story. We hope this is a story that will inspire you and when you leave Waterton, you will feel a special connection to a place that is unique and powerful.

You will leave with a special gift to share your part of the story.
