5:30 am: Train from Dong Hoi arrives at Hue Station 06:00 AM – Bus and tour guide pick you up at the meeting point in Hue city center, depart to Quang Tri to visit historic war sites – once one of the fiercest battlegrounds during the Vietnam War.
07:30 AM – Visit Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Stop at the Citadel – a solemn witness to the 81-day battle in the summer of 1972. The guide will explain its strategic role, the brutal combat, and the immense sacrifice of thousands of soldiers in defending the area.
08:30 AM – Depart for Route 9 – Da Krong Bridge Continue along National Highway 9 – a vital east-west supply route during the war, connecting both sides of the Truong Son (Annamite) mountain range. 10:00 AM – Visit Da Krong Bridge Stop at Da Krong Bridge – a symbol of the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail. Learn about its crucial role in transporting weapons and supplies to the southern frontlines.
10:30 AM – Visit Ta Con Airbase (Khe Sanh) Continue to Khe Sanh to explore Ta Con Airbase – a major US military outpost and the site of the 170-day-long siege in 1968. See original war relics, runways, bunkers, and remaining defense structures.
11:00 AM – Lunch at a local restaurant
01:00 PM – Transfer to Vinh Moc Tunnels Head north toward the coastal area of Vinh Linh – where local people once lived and fought underground throughout the years of intense bombing campaigns. 03:00 PM – Explore Vinh Moc Tunnels Discover a unique 3-level tunnel system nearly 2km long – once home to over 60 families and local soldiers. Witness living quarters, meeting rooms, clinics, kitchens, and more – all built underground.
04:00 PM – Transfer to Hien Luong Bridge – Ben Hai River The journey continues to the historic bridge that once divided North and South Vietnam for over 20 years. 05:00 PM – Visit Hien Luong Bridge – Ben Hai River Listen to the story of the 17th parallel – a powerful symbol of division and national reunification. Take photos at the historical site, including the demarcation line, museum, loudspeakers, and more.
06:00 PM – Stop at La Vang Holy Land Enjoy a short photo break at La Vang – a significant Catholic pilgrimage site. Then, the vehicle will drop you off in: • Dong Hoi (city center, train station, or airport) • Or return to Hue upon request
