Among the green lawns in this area there are historical monuments that refer to Portugal's maritime past, such as the Torre de Belém from the 16th century. XVI and the Padrão dos Descobrimentos, which has the shape of a ship. Close to the extensive Gothic-style Jerónimos Monastery is the famous Pastéis de Belém pastry shop, known for its Pastéis de Belém.
