Atlas trekking tour: hiking from the fertile valley of Aït Bouguemez and the path leads us over a pass to the plateau at the northern foot of the M’Goun chain. After the optional ascent of the summit, we descend into the Oulilimte valley. We follow the path in the river bed to the springs at Aflafal. Over the Tizi-n-Aït Imi pass we descend into the Aït Bouguemez valley.

    Day 1

    Marrakech - Aït Bouguemez valley (1,800m)

    In the morning the minibus drives you from Marrakech eastwards to Azilal and from there further south into the mighty mountains of the Central High Atlas to Timit in the idyllic Aït Bougmez valley. Voluntary visit to the marabout. Travel time: about 5 hours

    Timit - Ikissn'Arouss (2,100m)

    The mule team joins the group in the early morning. The animals are loaded and after breakfast you set off for the first stage. You hike through the fertile valley across fields to the confluence of the Arouss Valley. Lunch under walnut trees. Ascent to the pastures at Ikissn’Aurouss, the first camp. Walking time: 5.5 hours

    Ikissn’Arouss – Tarkeddit (2,900m)

    First a gentle climb to the end of the Arouss valley. Then first ascent to a small pass. The second ascent leads on a zigzag path to the Aghri Pass (3,200m). Lunch on the way. Descent to the Tarkeddit plateau at the northern foot of the M’Goun chain. Walking time: 6 hours

    Tarkeddit - (M’Goun 4,068m) - Oulilimte (2,700m)

    In good weather: departure at 4.30 a.m. to climb the M’Goun summit in about 6 hours. Last two hours on the ridge. Magnificent views over the mountain ranges of the Honen Atlas and to the south. Descent to camp in the Oulilimte valley on the river. PicNic on the way. Alternatively: with the support team on the equally beautiful route at the north foot of the M’Goun. Walking time: 9 hours with M’Goun, 5 hours without M’Goun

    Oulilimte – Iglin 'Tanout (2,700m)

    Ascent to Tizin’Ougmar (2,700m). Continue on the path in the mountain slopes to the picturesque camp on a green pasture right next to the river. Lunch in the camp. Possibility to swim in the nearby gorge. Walking time: 4.5 hours

    Iglin'Tanout - Timit (1,800m)

    Descent into the river valley with impressive rock formations and longer ascent to Tizin’Aït Imi (2,950m). A double view of the M’Goun chain in the south and the green valley of the Aït Bouguemez in the north. Descent into the valley to Timit. Lunch on the way. Farewell to the mule team and overnight in an inn. Walking time: 6 hours

    Timit - Ouzoud - Marrakech

    In the morning it is time to say goodbye to the mighty mountains of the High Atlas. Return by minibus to Marrakech via the Ouzoud waterfalls, where you have lunch. Overnight in the riad. Rest of the day at free disposal. Depending on your wishes, dinner together. Travel time: 6 hours
