When Vesuvius erupted on 24 August AD 79, it engulfed the two flourishing Roman towns of Pompei and Herculaneum, as well as the wealthy villages of Oplontis and Stabiae.
These locations give you the unique opportunity to enjoy the fantastic inner of Roman villas and some of the most interesting artifacts found in the area.

The Excavations of Oplontis are located in the city of Torre Annunziata. Oplontis is one of the Vesuvius areas that were buried by the eruption of 79 AD. The archeological digs in this area are referable to a peripheral urban centre under the jurisdiction of Pompeii.
