Tour of Agerola by bike

5.0
(4 reviews)

3 to 7 hours (approximately)
Offered in: English and 1 more

To get away from the heat and traffic of the main Amalfi Coast road, this ride towards our beautiful mountains is the best way to still enjoy the sea view, while exploring a less known, but not less beautiful, side of the area.
The ride starts with a long, but not too steep climb, which may not be for anyone on a regular bike, so consider choosing a pedal assisted e-bike unless you're up for some challenge!
Once in Agerola, a wide rural town overlooking the coast, there's a lot to taste and explore, and on a full day ride we can take our time there, before starting the exciting descent back to Amalfi.

What's Included

Helmet, pedals (different options available on road bikes), other bike gears on request.
A brief coffee break or little snack at a selected bar or kiosk on the way is offered, unless timing doesn't allow it.
A bidon with spring water or sports drink is provided (on request).
Use of bicycle
Cycling clothes/shoes (not required).
Damage insurance (not offered).
Gratuities
We can plan a lunch stop at a local restaurant on full day rides, cost is not included in the tour price.
Extra snacks at the coffee break (if any).

Meeting and pickup

Meeting point

From the bus/ferry stop in Amalfi center, walk the internal town street towards the Paper Museum. In 5 minutes walk there’s a sign for Villa Lara B&B on the left, our garage is there on the right. Only residents can drive here; if you're coming by car, park before entering Cathedral Square.

End point
This activity ends back at the meeting point.

The long climb up to Agerola passes through Furore, a colorful village decorated with many artworks that can be seen at the roadsides, alongside several vineyards.

At the entry of Agerola, and the end of the long main climb, riders are rewarded with a viewpoint above Furore and a monument to the Italian cycling champion Fausto Coppi, who won a race doing the same climb.

On a shorter half day ride, we can reach this other breathtaking viewpoint not too far, from where you can get a sight of Praiano and the Path of the Gods in the distance.

One of the most gorgeous viewpoints over Amalfi Coast, this is a regular stop on the full day version of this tour, as it's also close to the restaurant for lunch break. However, it is possible in some cases to make all the way there on a half day ride too, by keeping up a good cycling speed and other stops to a minimum.

Another favorite viewpoint, this time facing Positano from above the Path of the Gods. This is an optional destination only for full day tours, as it requires a quite challenging stretch, so not everyone might want or be up for it. It's possible to decide on the spot, after lunch break, whether to give it a try.
