Villa de Óbidos is about 90km from Lisbon. Conquered by the first king of Portugal D. Afonso Henriques in 1148, it was donated to Queen D. Isabel as a gift of marriage with D. Dinis, becoming part of the property of the House of the Queen until 1834. In addition to a remarkable architectural and artistic heritage with a castle, several churches, charming alleys, there are also many shops selling crafts and the famous ginjinha – a typical liquor of this area.
In the afternoon we head to Sintra, considered by some as the most romantic Villa of Portugal with its stunning palaces, a Moorish castle, lush gardens and green landscapes. You will also be able to tour the historic center, which is small but very charming and taste the typical sweets of this area : the cheijadas of Sintra and pillows.
You can choose a palace to visit: Sintra National Palace, Biester Palace, Quinta da Regaleira, Pena Palace, Monserrate Palace or Queluz Palace.
