What to expect

Step behind the scenes of Iwate Meijo, one of Oshu City's leading sake breweries, and discover how Iwate's pure water, premium rice, and traditional craftsmanship create exceptional sake.

Your experience begins with an introduction to the brewery's history and the natural environment of southern Iwate, where cold winters and high-quality local rice provide ideal conditions for sake brewing.

Next, tour the brewery and follow the brewing process step by step. Learn how the rice is washed, steamed, cultivated with koji, fermented, and pressed, while observing the careful techniques and dedication of the brewers.

The tour concludes with a guided tasting of several exclusive sakes. Sample Iwate Meijo's rare, highest-grade daiginjo, produced in extremely limited quantities, along with brewery-exclusive labels unavailable elsewhere. You will also taste OkuRoku, an internationally recognized sake known for its wine-like elegance, refreshing acidity, delicate sweetness, and smooth finish.
