After breakfast and the briefing, we'll drive to Londorossi Park Gate (about a 3-hour drive). From there, a forest track accessible by a 4WD vehicle leads to Lemosho Glades. We'll hike along forest trails to the Mti Mkubwa (big tree) campsite.
Following a satisfying breakfast, the trail begins to gently incline, leading us into the expansive heather moorland zone. Along the way, we'll traverse multiple babbling streams and press forward over the prominent Shira Ridge, passing by the Shira 1 campsite. Our journey culminates as we arrive at the serene Shira 2 camp, nestled within moorland meadows beside a meandering stream. From the Shira Plateau, we continue east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we proceed, our direction shifts southeast towards the Lava Tower, known as the “Shark’s Tooth” (elev. 4650m/15,250ft). After the tower, we head down to the Barranco Camp. Very early in the morning (midnight to 2 am), we ascend towards the summit through scree, reaching Stella Point on the crater rim. After a rest, a one-hour ascent through snow takes us to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Kilimanjaro. We descend to Mweka Camp via Barafu for lunch.
