This tour offers a scenic and well-supported trekking experience inside Arusha National Park, combining mountain adventure with possible wildlife sightings. Unlike busier routes, Mount Meru is quieter and ideal for travelers seeking a more relaxed but rewarding climb.
You’ll trek with an experienced local team, including professional guides, porters, and a mountain chef who prepares fresh meals daily. An armed ranger accompanies the group for safety, as required by the park. The itinerary is well paced, with time for acclimatization and an optional hike to Little Meru, improving comfort and summit success.
The highlight is an early-morning summit attempt to Socialist Peak (4,562 m), where you’ll enjoy sunrise views over Mount Kilimanjaro.
This trek is a less crowded, high-quality alternative to Kilimanjaro, ideal for adventurous hikers who value safety, scenery, and personal attention.

1Arusha
After breakfast, drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. Begin your trek accompanied by an armed ranger, hiking 4–6 hours through forest and open grassland. Wildlife sightings may include giraffes, buffaloes, and antelopes. Overnight at Miriakamba Hut.

After breakfast, drive to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park. Begin your trek accompanied by an armed ranger, hiking 4–6 hours through forest and open grassland. Wildlife sightings may include giraffes, buffaloes, and antelopes.

3Mount Meru
Hike 3–4 hours through rainforest and moorland to Saddle Hut. In the afternoon, take an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820 m) for stunning views of Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape.

4Mount Meru
Start early around 2:00 AM for the summit push. Reach Socialist Peak by sunrise and enjoy breathtaking views over Mount Kilimanjaro. After celebrating at the summit, descend to Saddle Hut for rest, then continue down to Miriakamba Hut. A challenging day with 10–14 hours of hiking, fully supported by your team.

Descend 2–3 hours to Momella Gate. Transfer back to Moshi or Arusha, marking the end of your Mount Meru adventure.
