Itinerary

Duration: 8 days (approximately)
    Day 1

Moshi to Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

    1 stop
  • 1

Your hike begins with a gentle walk through the green rainforest, surrounded by tall trees and fresh air. The trail is soft and shaded, and depending on the weather it may be dry or slightly muddy. This first day is short and easy, helping your body adjust slowly. You finish the day at Mti Mkubwa Camp, where you relax, enjoy dinner, and receive a short briefing for the next day.

  • Day 2

Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

    1 stop
  • 2

You start the morning walking through the last part of the forest before the landscape changes into open moorland. The trees become smaller, and you begin to see tall heather, grasses, and volcanic rocks. As you go higher, views of the Shira Plateau and Kilimanjaro’s main peak start to appear. The climb is steady and leads you to the peaceful Shira 1 Camp.

  • Day 3

Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

    1 stop
  • 3

Today is a gentle and enjoyable walk across the wide Shira Plateau. The trail is mostly flat with slow, steady climbs, giving your body time to adjust to the altitude. You spend the day with beautiful views of the mountain and open skies before reaching Shira 2 Camp.

  • Day 4

Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

    1 stop
  • 4

You walk up toward Lava Tower at about 4,600m, where the air is thinner and colder. This part helps your body acclimatize. After resting at Lava Tower, you descend into a warmer valley toward Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” approach is very helpful for reducing altitude sickness.

  • Day 5

    Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

    1 stop
  • 5

The day begins with the climb up the famous Barranco Wall. It looks steep, but with your guide’s support, it becomes a fun and rewarding part of the trek. From the top, you enjoy amazing views of the mountain. After crossing small valleys and ridges, you arrive at Karanga Camp to rest and prepare for the next stage.

  • Day 6

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (Base Camp)

    1 stop
  • 6

Today is a steady climb to Barafu Camp, your base camp before the summit. The land is rocky and dry, and you feel the altitude more clearly. You arrive early to rest, eat, and prepare for the summit attempt. After an early dinner, you sleep for a few hours before the midnight start.

  • Day 7

Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

    1 stop
  • 7

Around midnight, you begin your slow and steady climb to the summit. This is the hardest part of the trip, but also the most rewarding. As the sun rises, you reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m) — the highest point in Africa and a moment you will never forget. After celebrating and taking photos, you descend back to Barafu for rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp for the night.

    14 hours Admission ticket free
  • Day 8

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi

    1 stop
  • 8

Your last day is a gentle walk down through the forest to Mweka Gate. At the bottom, you receive your official Kilimanjaro certificate. Our driver will pick you up and take you back to your hotel to rest, shower, and celebrate your climb.
