This tour offers the customer a good chance to succeed in the climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro. As we say here the more days you spend on the mountain the higher chance of success. This will be the first day starting the hike through Machame gate, we summit on the sixth night and by the seventh night we are back at the Mweka gate. We are a locally owned run, certified, and licensed Tour Company with years of experience. We make sure all our staff are paid well from our guides to our porters. We value the well-being of our staff as well as our customers that's why before the trip begins we make sure to inspect the gear of both the staff and the customer. From the profit raised on the climbs from each customer we get we make sure the money helps sends a child to school.
We will pick you up from the available hotels in Kilimanjaro.
We pick you up at your hotel in Moshi or surrounding area and drive to Machame gate for registration. Here you will meet the rest of the crew such as the cook and the porters. The hike will begin through the rain forest to an overnight camp and should take about 6 hours.
We begin our journey from Machame camp to Shira camp. This will be a short day but steep, rocky and dusty trails. The hike will be slow but steady with a lot of breaks. This route is bare in most places meaning it provides little shade from the heat.
We will start the climb heading towards Lava tower and stop for lunch around noon. For anyone interested, we may climb up the Lava Tower which is 4526m this will be a good test of the altitude sickness, so be aware if you start getting mild headache. From Lava tower we will go down for about 2 hours through dusty and rocky trails to the Barranco camp.
After breakfast, we continue on a steep ridge up to the adventurous Barranco Wall to the Karanga Valley where there is a the junction which connects to the Mweka Trail.
We continue up toward Barafu Camp, this circuit offers a variety of breathtaking views of the summit from many different angles. An early dinner and rest as we prepare for summit night.
Now you are heading to the summit. This time the hike will start somewhere between midnight to around 2am with the aim of arriving at the peak by the sunrise. We continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. We head in a northwesterly direction and ascend towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the hike. At Stella Point (5700m), you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting). From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all the way on your 1-hour ascend to the summit. Good thing, the summit can be seen on eye level. At Uhuru Peak, you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa, so make sure to take as many pictures and make as much memories as possible. From the summit, we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut camp site, stopping at Barafu for lunch.
After an early and well-deserved breakfast, it is a short 4 to 6 hour and scenic hike back to the park gate. Some hikers do experience knee problems which could make the descending longer than planned. It is strongly recommended not to pay your porters any tips until you and all your gear have reached the gate safely. At Mweka gate you sign your name and details in a register. This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Climber who reached Stella Point (5739m) will received a green certificate. Others who will reached Uhuru Peak (5895m) will receive gold certificate. From the company we will provide you with completion medal as a souvenir and memory for what you achieved. A vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi.
