When you arrive at Halong International Port, head to the outside gate to meet your driver holding a welcome board with your name on it. Then, hop in the car for the ride to Hanoi City. The trip takes around 2.5 hours on the expressway.
We'll arrive in Hanoi, and your guide will take us to see the Ho Chi Minh Complex. It has his Mausoleum, where Uncle Ho rests. The site is sometimes closed, though.
Continue the trip, your car will take you to the Temple of Literature, which was Vietnam’s first university and is dedicated to Confucius.
First, enjoy lunch at a local Hanoi restaurant. Afterward, you'll visit Hoa Lo Prison. This prison was once used by French colonists in Indochina for political prisoners. Later on, North Vietnam used it for U.S. POWs during the Vietnam War. During that time, American prisoners called it the "Hanoi Hilton."
After that, we head back to the Old Quarter where you'll hop on a cyclo for a ride around the area. This calming ride lets you slow down and really soak in all the sights, sounds, and feel of the place.
This is the last chance to snap photos, grab some coffee or tea, and soak up the lively atmosphere on Train Street. Hanoi Train Street, a unique and popular spot right in the city center, is super famous for its tight squeezes between narrow alleys and passing trains. Built over a century ago, the tracks now draw tons of tourists who have flocked there recently.
Guests will hop in a car after the train station and ride back to the Halong Cruise Port. This 2.5-hour express trip ends as we drop them off outside the Halong International Cruise Port, just before their cruise departs.
