Walking through the heart of the natural park of Madeira, this walk is a great way for you to understand how our island was originated The unique rock formations and species of the fauna and flora in this area are worth experiencing.
We can arrange for pickups at other locations in the Funchal area as long as there's a known reference point and a place where our vehicle can safely stop for some minutes without blocking any roads or traffic. Our staff will contact you with the most accurate time for your pickup. Pickups outside the Funchal area are available (at extra cost). This trail is situated at the eastern end of the island, in Caniçal and it’s a part of the Natural Park of the island. Along the walk you will see both north and south coasts of Madeira. Discover and enjoy the unique fauna and flora species or take a moment to see the curious rock formations, a result of the volcanic origin of the island. The rocky and contrasting alternative to the evergreen levada paths. Views over the Desertas islands in the south and Porto Santo to the north are present all the way. At the end of the walk it's possible to go for a swim in the clear ocean which makes this walk special in every way.
