Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia. You will be greeted at the airport and transferred to hotel. After lunch take a city tour including a visit to the Chinggis Khan Museum and Bogd Khan Palace, a series of beautiful traditional buildings where the last religious King of Mongolia resided. You will be picked up from the hotel and transported to airport and transferred to another flight to Murun city, the capital of Khuvsgul province. The flight takes hour and a half and on your arrival at the airstrip in Murun, tour drivers and guides will be waiting for you. Drive to Khuvsgul lake, located in northern Mongolia, which is a stunning natural wonder that is often referred to as the "Dark Blue Pearl" of the country. The lake is the largest freshwater lake in Mongolia by volume and second largest by area holding 2% of the world's fresh water. One of the world's most ancient lakes, Lake Khuvsgul is more than 2 million years old. It is known for its beautiful scenery, with forests, mountains, and meadows surrounding the crystal-clear waters of the lake. It is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, who come to enjoy activities such as hiking, fishing, and birdwatching.
After breakfast, take a trip to Renchinlkhumbe. Embark on a drive through the beautiful Darkhad depression. The Darkhad are a Mongol tribe who live in northern Mongolia of Darkhad valley. The Darkhad consider themselves to be the descendants of Bo’orchu and Muqali, two of Genghis Khan’s generals who were given the honor of guarding the Great Khan’s tomb after his death in 1227. Although the exact location of Genghis Khan’s tomb is a secret that has been lost to history, the Darkhad continue to guard his relics and to maintain his cult.
After breakfast horse riding tour to Reindeer herders or Tsaatan people tribe. Depending on the camp’s location, expect horse rides to last between 4-8 hours. Spring camps are closer, while summer camps are more remote but rewarding. Each season tribes with their nomadic nature change their location for more pasture for their reindeer as well as for cover from wind and cold during the colder seasons. Mongolian Reindeer People or Tsaatan, a diminishing nomadic tribe who live in the depths of the Taiga in northern Mongolia are one of the last groups of nomadic reindeer herders in the world. Mongolian reindeer people life is completely dependent on the Reindeer they herd, often moving their small encampment tepees 5-10 times a year in search of suitable weather and moss for the reindeer.
