Emilia Foodie Experience is an extraordinary journey through a landscape of rivers, plains and hills and the jewels of the Italian gastronomic tradition!
We will discover the secrets of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and Prosciutto di Parma, their ancient origins and unparalleled balance of knowledge, man’s passion and nature’s bounty. We will see the cheese production process in full swing and we will visit all the rooms of the cheese dairy: the production room, the shaping room, the salting room and the amazing warehouse! The dairy experience will end with a tasting of delicious Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. We will reach an authentic Prosciutto di Parma Plant, crossing the Parma Hills region. During the visit to the plant we will be able to observe the production process of this delicacy and learn about its important history and all the standards which must be complied with, to fully understand the the origins of the unique character of Parma ham: the sweetness!
Hotel pick-up and drop-off is included in the "Price including transportation" option. Pick-up and drop-off is intended within a radius of 15 kilometres of the city centre (Piazza Garibaldi in Parma). If your location is not among the pick up points listed, contact us to receive a customized quote for the extra transportation service. When travelers select the "Self-Drive Price" option, we'll see them at the Departure Point, they must provide their own transport and follow the guide in a separate car.
You will meet the guide in front of Emily Way Bar in Via Marco Emilio Lepido, 215, 43122 San Prospero PR at 8.30 am.
If you selected the "Self-Drive" Option, the tour will end at the exit of the Parma Ham Plant. If you selected the "Transportation included" Option, the tour will end at the pick-up location.
We will visit an authentic Parmigiano Reggiano cheese dairy during the production procees and the visit will be followed by a declicious tasting of different ageings of cheese.
We will stop on the way at the foot of the Castle of Torrechiara to take some pictures.
After the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese dairy experience, we will head to a plant situated on the Parma hills, where the famous Prosciutto di Parma is produced, for the visit to the Prosciutto facility followed by tasting of Prosciutto and other traditional cured meats.
