Join us for a memorable day in the spectacular Mindo Cloud Forest, where you’ll explore carefully selected birdwatching spots and discover the incredible diversity of birds found on the western slopes of the Andes.
No previous experience is needed. Our knowledgeable local guides will show you how to spot birds, learn about their behavior, and make the most of the natural light and scenery for photography. Along the way, you’ll discover the fascinating flora, fauna, and unique ecosystems of the Mindo Cloud Forest.
From colorful hummingbirds and tanagers to toucans and many other species, every stop offers new opportunities to observe and photograph wildlife in its natural habitat.
Whether you are taking your first steps into birdwatching, looking to improve your nature photography, or simply want to experience the incredible biodiversity of Mindo.
We will pick you up at the arrival hall at 6.30am. The National Tour Guide will ask in the reception about you but it will be easy to meet you.
We will be in touch with you one day before of your Tour to share some information about what do you need to bring and who will be your Local Tour Guide.
Please keep in mind that in case you're booking as a "shared tour" and there are other people that have booked on the same date, you will be put together. However, it will be a small group.
Here are a few recommendations to help you prepare:
• Tennis or hiking shoes are the best choice.
• Light, comfortable pants are ideal.
• Please bring a rain jacket, sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses.
• Don’t forget a water bottle.
• If you have a camera with a good lens, bring it along—it’s a great opportunity to take stunning photos of hummingbirds.
• Binoculars
No previous birdwatching or photography experience is needed. Our Private introduction to Birdwatching & Photography in the Cloud Forest Day-tour Leaves at 06.30am from your location in Quito. We will take our first stop in Maraksacha Private Reserve. This is a great Birdwatching opportunity for photography and check some unique bird species in the transition forest from the could forest to the andes.
Would you like to feed hummingbirds from your hands? This is the perfect place for that! You'll also encounter toucans and tanagers at the feeders. Agoutis, red squirrels, Tayras, orchids, and bromeliads are all part of this amazing experience. Be sure to bring binoculars and a camera with a good zoom.
Next stop is Fruttituti tour. A Special hummingbird there. (Long-billed starthroat) powerful woodpecker.
Lunch time in Toro en Bicicleta. A great restaurant with a chance to see other birds species in feeders.
Last stop la victoriana. This is a Special spot for the Andean cock of the Rock. It will take a 15 minutes hike to get to the LEK. Reasonable time for photography. Finally, we Return to Quito 6.30pm
