    Ulaanbaatar

    On this day, your tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel at 9:00 a.m. to begin a full-day city tour of Ulaanbaatar. Your first stop will be Gandantegchinlen Monastery, the most important Buddhist monastery in Mongolia, where you can see the impressive Megjid Janraisig Buddha statue. You will then visit the Zaisan Memorial, offering panoramic views over the city. The tour continues to the Bogd Khan Winter Palace Museum, once the residence of Mongolia’s last king, followed by a visit to Sükhbaatar Square, the heart of the capital. You will then explore the National Museum of Mongolia, where you’ll learn about Mongolia’s history, culture, and traditions. To conclude the day, enjoy a one-hour traditional Mongolian folk concert, showcasing throat singing, traditional instruments, and folk dances. After the concert, we will transfer you back to your hotel, marking the end of the city tour.

    Today, our tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive to the Elsen Tasarkhai semi-desert and the Khugnu Khan Natural Reserve. Sand dunes surround this unique region, rolling hills are covered with rare shrubs, and a small forest along a river offers a rare combination of mountains, forests, and Gobi-style landscapes in one destination. Upon arrival, we explore the area, visit the peaceful Uvgun Temple, and experience the lifestyle of a nomadic family inside a traditional Mongolian ger.     After a hearty breakfast at our tourist camp, we drive approximately 70 km to the ancient capital city of Kharkhorin. In 1220, the great Chinggis Khaan declared Kharkhorin the capital of his vast empire. Today, visitors can explore the fascinating remains of this once-great city, including the legendary stone turtle sculptures, ancient Buddhist stupas, and archaeological ruins that highlight its historical importance. We then visit Erdene Zuu Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia, established in 1586. The monastery continues to preserve its former glory, featuring priceless religious artifacts, impressive monastery walls, and beautifully crafted examples of traditional Mongolian Buddhist art.

    Khorgo Volcano & Terkhiin Tsagaan nuur/ White Lake

    After breakfast, we drive to Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur (White Lake). Today’s highlight is a visit to the extinct Khorgo Volcano, where we trek to the large volcanic crater that last erupted approximately 7,000 years ago. Located on the eastern shore of Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake, Khorgo Volcano rises dramatically above the surrounding landscape, with its crater now covered in Siberian larch trees.

    Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur National Park

    We then continue to explore Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake, which was formed when lava from the Khorgo Volcano dammed the Suman River, creating a natural basin surrounded by basalt formations. The lake’s serene setting makes it an excellent spot for nature walks, birdwatching, and fishing, offering a peaceful and scenic experience in the heart of Mongolia’s volcanic region.

    Today, we drive to Khuvsgul Lake, the deepest and purest lake in Mongolia. Often called the Blue Pearl of Mongolia, the lake lies near the Siberian border and is surrounded by pristine forests, mountains, and crystal-clear waters, creating some of the country’s most breathtaking scenery. Upon arrival, we enjoy time trekking along the lakeshore and nearby mountain trails, offering excellent opportunities for photography and nature exploration. This area is rich in wildlife and diverse plant life, allowing you to experience the unique flora and fauna of the Khuvsgul Lake region while soaking in its peaceful and unspoiled atmosphere.

    After a hearty breakfast at our tourist camp, we drive to Uran-Togoo National Park, located in Khutag-Öndör district of Bulgan Province. The park is centered on Uran Uul, an extinct volcanic cone and one of Mongolia’s best-preserved volcanoes. Uran Uul rises to an elevation of approximately 1,686 meters above sea level, with a nearly circular crater measuring about 500 meters in diameter and 50 meters deep. The surrounding area is known for its open grasslands, volcanic formations, and peaceful natural setting, offering excellent opportunities for light trekking, photography, and nature exploration.

    Amarbayasgalan Monastery

    Amarbayasgalant Monastery

    After breakfast, we drive to Amarbayasgalant Monastery, one of Mongolia’s largest and most renowned Buddhist monasteries, beautifully set in the Iven River Valley at the foot of Mount Burenkhan. Historically, the monastery was a major center of Buddhist learning and spiritual practice, home to more than six thousand novice and fully ordained monks. It played a significant role in the transmission of Dharma teachings, strictly following the Vinaya of Lord Buddha and harmoniously integrating the Three Baskets (Tripiṭaka) with the Three Higher Trainings—ethics, meditation, and wisdom. Renowned for its exquisite decorations, refined architectural design, and serene natural setting, Amarbayasgalant Monastery is considered one of the most magnificent Buddhist architectural monuments not only in Mongolia, but in all of Asia.

    After a hearty breakfast this morning, we begin our approximately 350 km drive back to Ulaanbaatar, with a lunch stop along the way. We arrive in the city in the late afternoon, around 4:00–5:00 p.m., and transfer you to your hotel. This marks the end of our tour.
