    Acueduct of Segovia

    The Aqueduct of Segovia is a Roman aqueduct that carried water to the Spanish city of Segovia until 1973.1 Its construction dates from the early second century AD. The most visible, and therefore famous, part of the aqueduct is the arcade that crosses the Azoguejo square.

    Built in the 12th century, it is located on the current Juan Bravo street, halfway between the Cathedral of Santa María and the Roman aqueduct. It is a temple of Mozarabic origin with Romanesque style. It has three naves, a transept with a brick dome and a tripartite apse.

    The city walls of Avila are a Romanesque military fence that surrounds the old town. The wall, along with the old town and several churches located outside the walls were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985.
