Escape to Marco de Canaveses, where the Vinhos Verdes region meets the Douro. Stroll through an organic vineyard, meet the sheep and geese that help keep it thriving, and discover how grapes are transformed in the cellar.
You’ll taste a selection of organic wines paired with delicious local food. Depending on the season, you may even enjoy a refreshing dip in the estate’s tank before heading back to Porto.
Please meet inside the sao bento train station 15 min before the tour starts.
A train ride to the vineyard and back
The tour continues into the wine cellar—the heart of the operation—where fermentations are carefully monitored, and traditional grape-treading still takes place. Along the way, we’ll hear about the history of the vineyard, the techniques used, and the materials that give each wine its unique character. Afterwards, it’s time to taste. You’ll enjoy a guided tasting of the wines we’ve just explored, paired with dishes prepared either by a local restaurant or the winemaker himself. (Please let us know in advance if you have any dietary requirements.) If the weather is kind, there’s even the chance for a refreshing dip in the estate’s tank before we leave. You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase wines directly from the producer, making sure you take a little of the experience home with you.

Join us for a unique journey to an organic wine estate in Marco de Canaveses, right where the lush Vinhos Verdes region begins to give way to the Douro Region. Depending on the size of the group, we’ll either travel together by car or—if we are four or more—take a scenic 40-minute train ride, where the winemaker will meet us upon arrival. Once at the estate, we’ll stroll through the vineyards, discovering the cultivation methods, learning where each grape variety thrives, and meeting the sheep and geese that play a vital role in organic wine production.
