Located in the western province of Rwanda, a country of thousand hills, The Congo Nile Trail is a 227 km trail along lake Kivu forming Kivu belt as it extends from Rubavu, continues through Rutsiro, then Karongi, up to Nyamasheke and ends at Rusizi District.

The 3 days walk will give you a memorable experience and most important get to know the beauty of Rwanda including Coffee, Banana plantations, fishing experience and learn more about the source of Nile River.

Bumba base camp is a very basic accommodation block. It's got 4 rooms with basic beds and a separate building has additional rooms. Mostly used by people that hike up and down the Congo Nile trail.

    Day 1

    Gisenyi (Brasserie) to Cyimbiri

    Nyamyumba Hot Springs

    Starting at 7:00 AM, we take a direction to Cyimbiri village, a trip that normally takes between 6 to 7 hours walking. On our way, you will enjoy the beauty of Lake Kivu, especially the landscapes, islands and not forgetting the agricultural activities including banana plantations, coffee, beans, and cassava)

    Visit Lake Kivu Boat tour & Adventure

    Starting at 7:00 AM, we take a direction to Cyimbiri village, a trip that normally takes between 6 to 7 hours walking. On our way, you will enjoy the beauty of Lake Kivu, especially the landscapes, islands and not forgetting the agricultural activities including banana plantations, coffee, beans, and cassava)

    On our way, we will visit a coffee factory whereby we will learn more on coffee plantation, harvesting, purchase, processing and drying until it gets to the final stage.

    This morning, you will walk for 2 hours up to the nearby fishermen village called Nkora whereby you will meet local community drying and sale coffee. You will proceed to Kinunu basecamp and on your way, you will be enjoying good voices of birds, fishing activities, landscape, banana and coffee plantations. Overnight at Kinunu guest house

    Starting in the morning, you will walk for 8 hours up to Bumba basecamp, on your way, you will enjoy the landscapes and scenery around the lake Kivu, fishing activities and agricultural activities that include banana and coffee plantations without forgetting cassava and beans. Proceed to Kibuye, Gisenyi or Kigali
