The Cape Winelands is probably one of the most beautiful countryside in the world, with views of mountains, oceans and vineyards. Learn about the heritage of the Constantia Winelands on our private tour and visit the 2 wine farms which originally formed part of the The Simon van der Stel Constantia wine farm: Groot Constantia and Klein Constantia. We recommend enjoying a beautiful lunch overlooking the vineyards and pairing it with some of the best wines produced in South Africa. With a refreshing morning visit to Robben Island and astonishing scenic views of Table Mountain.
Travelers can enter their own pickup point within 15 Kms of the City Centre. Travelers have to share their pickup location / address and they will be picked up right at their door. Should you not meet this requirement, we have a meeting point at The Nelson Mandela Gateway at V&A Waterfront.
Pick up at accommodation in Cape Town will be 1 hour before departure. You will receive a transfer from your hotel in Cape Town to the Silo District where you will be escorted to the Nelson Mandela Gateway to Robben Island. You will be met by a resident Tour Guide who will conduct the tour of the Island. (Please note that our tour guide/driver will not be joining you on the tour of the Robben Island museum.) The entire tour lasts 4 hours which includes hotel pick up. For part of the tour, you will be transported around the island by bus, before you visit the prison cell of Nelson Mandela and take The Long Walk to Freedom at the end of the tour. Your Tour Guide/Driver will meet you at the entrance of the Nelson Mandela Gateway for your return.
After Robben Island we proceed to Table Mountain. A beautiful day to see the impeccable view of the City, when you get here you will have the option of using the cable way to the top or hiking all the way to the top. Here you will enjoy the breathtaking views of Cape Town City and the amazing breeze from the ocean, take plenty of pictures and selfies then after we head on to our next stop.
We then proceed to the historical Groot (meaning Big) Constantia wine estate. Groot Constantia is the oldest wine producing farm in South Africa since 1685 and even after the farm had changed ownership, it still maintains the production of high quality, award-winning wine. The farm produces 70% Red and 30% White cultivars. We can recommend a beautiful lunch either at Simon’s Restaurant or at Jonkershuis Restaurant, both set on this exquisite wine estate.
Our next stop is at Klein (meaning Little) Constantia wine estate. Set on the foothills of the Constantiaberg, with spectacular views across False Bay, Klein Constantia was also part of the Constantia farm by Simon van der Stel in 1685. Through its decomposed granite soil slopes and cool ocean breeze, Klein Constantia produces some of South Africa’s top wine. The farm produces 30% Red and 70% White cultivars.
