Centro Historico de Cascais represents the old center of a historic coastal city that was once a small fishing village. While the foundation of Cascais dates to the 12th century, it did not become a desirable resort location until the 19th or 20th centuries, when royalty began to frequent the village. Now it is a popular site for beach-goers and tourists who are interested in Portuguese history.

5Boca do Inferno
The name "Mouth of Hell" attributed to this place is due to the morphological analogy and the tremendous and frightening impact of the vacancies that are felt there. The characteristic that makes up the rock on the cliff is carbonated in nature. The erosion exerted by the action of rainwater that, containing dissolved carbon dioxide, causes the dissolution of carbonate. Through this process cavities and caves are formed inside the limestone. It is quite possible that the place was an old cave. With the abatement of the upper layers, the cave will have been destroyed, leaving a huge cavity in the open air.

6Guincho Beach
The Praia do Guincho is a stunning beach set within the dramatic scenery of the Serra de Sintra hills. Guincho beach is exposed to the powerful Atlantic Ocean and is famed for its immense surfing waves. If you are an experienced surfer and have your own transport, then this is the beach to head to for surfing! Guincho is a surfer's beach, but in the summer, when the weather is calm, and the winds lessen, it is also a fantastic destination for a beach day. Praia do Guincho beach The Praia do Guincho with the Sintra hills to the rear Guincho beach boasts a 750m shoreline that sits in a natural depression on the southern side of the Serra de Sintra hills. Into this valley, the powerful sea has formed a sandy beach, while the constant winds have blown the sands inland, creating sand dunes and a thriving beach ecosystem.
