Mammoth pines and the peak of Budapest - the most asphalted and easiest tour. On this tour you can have a real taste of the breathtaking hilly side of the city in its real nature and wildlife by cycling through the wonderful woods up or downhill no matter as the electric bikes give you a total feel of comfort all the way long. With our several stops it is a real easy mission for everyone. Shortly after the start, after a very steep ascent, we are really taking advantage of the e-bike. Our bike journey is mostly on asphalt: first, we admire the mammoth pines, then through Csillebérc and Normafa we reach the Elisabeth Lookout Tower on János Hill. You couldn't come up with a more pleasant route through the Buda Hills.
There is a parking lot there where you find the guide with the bikes.
After leaving city center we head towards the West edge of the capital and after biking 8 km we reach to Budakeszi where we have a look at the wonderful mammoth pines that amaze the local people so much as they are not indigenous in Hungary. Also Saplings were planted by the old pines. We continue our way across the market of Budakeszi.
At the other end of Budakeszi we stop by and take a rest on a meadow by the Church of Our Lady of Angels, built in the XVIIIth century. The church was built by Trinitarian monks who collected money under the Turkish Ottoman occupation to redeem prisoners of the war with money but quite often they payed for them with their own lives.
Normafa that we reach after cycling 15.5 km, is a popular if not the most popular picnic area of the local people of Budapest. It is the place for hiking, sledding, skiing and sipping hot wine at winter, often accompanied with the famous strudel here all year round. It is not even a question for a local: when it comes to Normafa it is time for a strudel!
At the 18th km of the tour we finally arrive to the beautiful Elisabeth Lookout tower. It stands on the top of the 527 m high 'János Hegy' / 'John Hill' that is the peak of Budapest. The lookout tower was handed over in 1910 to the city and it wears the name of the world famous Empress Sisi who visited the view point in 1882 for the first time and then become a beloved excursion spot for her as well. This breathtaking panorama view not just overviews to the capital but we can admire the view of the whole Buda Hills and the Pilis Mountains too. Nothing limits our view, the breathtaking panorama is 360 degrees.
The last and very nice section of the tour in the woods leads us to the very exciting site of 'Remete-szurdok' - a beautiful gorge that connects Remeteszőlős with Máriaremete. This beautiful trail in the woods is always full of lovely flowers all way along.
