Visit the breathtaking Black Forest region and the Rhine Falls—Europe’s largest waterfall—in one day on a tour from Zurich! This full-day excursion begins with a visit to Titisee-Neustadt, a charming town in the heart of Germany’s Black Forest. Admire the main attraction, Lake Titisee, and visit the locally renowned Drubba watchmaker to see how traditional German cuckoo clocks are made. The drive back to Switzerland takes us along scenic roads lined with the dense pine forests that give the region its name, the “Black Forest.” Another highlight of today’s excursion is the Rhine Falls, where we’ll stop to watch the waters of the Rhine plunge from a height of 75 feet (23 meters) before returning to Zurich.
The Sihlquai bus station is located 200 meters behind Zurich main station (HB). IMPORTANT: If you are using GPS, please enter 'Limmatstrasse 4, 8005 Zürich'. At the bus station there is a wooden/green building where we have a check-in counter marked 'Meier Tours - Gray Line Sightseeing’.
Check in for your tour at the bus parking Sihlquai. Settle aboard your luxury coach, departing central Zurich for the drive north to southern Germany.
The drive lasts just over 1.5 hours, so sit back, relax and take in the postcard-perfect scenery. Pass by Lake Schluchsee, the lush green hills and woods of the Black Forest.
Stop for roughly 2 hours in the picturesque town of Titisee-Neustadt, situated on the edge of Lake Titisee in the heart of the Black Forest. One of the area’s famous exports is German cuckoo clocks, so head inside Drubba – a prestigious clock producer – to see how these traditional clocks are made. Then, spend the rest of your time in the town at leisure; stroll around Lake Titisee independently, enjoy a boat ride or perhaps visit a café to sample the region’s legendary Black Forest Gateau (activities and food at your own expense). The rich cake -- also known as Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte -- is constructed as a chocolate cake, layered with cherries, whipped cream and lashings of cherry brandy.
Meet your guide and travel south through the impressive spruce forests of Lenzkirch, working your way back into Switzerland.
Head into the Upper Rhine region to stop at Rhine Falls – Europe’s largest waterfalls – and enjoy a break of roughly 45 minutes. Gaze at the water as it crashes down a drop of 75 feet (23 meters), pose for photos, and stroll around admiring the scenery. (or take an optional boat ride)
Return back to Zurich and finish your tour in the city center in the evening.
