Explore the beautifully landscaped Boboli Gardens, adorned with over 500 sculptures, fountains, and breathtaking views of Florence. The route rises from the Ammannati courtyard behind the Pitti Palace through a sequence of set-pieces: the Amphitheatre, built on the site of a former stone quarry and centred on an Egyptian obelisk; the Grotto of Buontalenti, an extraordinary artificial cave of stalactites, frescoes, and sculpture; the Fountain of Neptune and the Fountain of the Ocean; the Viottolone, the long cypress avenue descending toward Porta Romana; the Kaffeehaus, an 18th-century Rococo pavilion rare in Tuscany; the Lemon House, built by Zanobi del Rosso in 1777–78; and the Knight's Garden, the Garden of Madama, and the Grotto of Adam and Eve.
