    Valley of the Kings

This valley was the primary burial site for the pharaohs of the New Kingdom period, which spanned from around 1550 BC to 1070 BC. During this time, many of ancient Egypt's most powerful and famous rulers were interred in tombs carved into the valley's limestone Valley of the Kings: - It contains over 60 tombs and chambers, many of which were elaborately decorated with hieroglyphics, paintings, and artifacts. - Some of the most well-known pharaohs buried here include Tutankhamun, Ramses the Great, Seti I, and Amenhotep III. - The tombs were robbed and vandalized over the centuries, though many still contain significant archaeological treasures. - Major discoveries in the valley include the intact tomb of Tutankhamun, which was found in 1922 by the archaeologist Howard Carter. - Exploration and excavation of the valley has continued to the present day, with new tombs and artifacts still being uncovered.
