In this workshop tour, you can see the techniques of dyeing kimono up close.
Aoyagi was founded in 1938 in Tokamachi, a kimono-producing area.
At Aoyagi's workshop, which has been making use of the traditional techniques of kimono creation, you can observe the process of creating a single kimono. We carry out all processes from weaving, dyeing, squeezing, yuzen, embroidery and foil in our own studio.
Recommended for those who are interested in traditional kimono techniques and those who are interested in kimonos from the Tokamachi production area.
* Located in one corner of Akashi Industrial Park. Parking on site. * If you come by train, please take a taxi from Tokamachi Station.
You will see the main processes of yuzen dyeing and tie-dyeing, which are traditional techniques for dyeing kimonos. <Yuzen process> Please pay attention to the way that the long cloth in the dyeing process is hung up and dyed, the state of dyeing with a spatula in the molding process and the huge number of molds. <Drawing process> The dynamic tub dyeing sight at the dyeing station will surprise you beyond the image of kimono dyeing. In addition, please see the process of hand drawing Yuzen. (Depending on the operation status of the workshop on the day, the order and contents of the tour may be changed.)
