⚠ CAUTION! This is NOT a typical city tour full of boring data, history facts and rigid itinirary. Yes, we will walk by the most important and interesting tourist attractions and make stops there, but we will mostly focuse on Ljubljana and its local life from today's point of view.
Do this tour if you want to get integrated into the local life and really get to know the city while having a great time!
Highlights:
✔We'll visit the farmers market with special attention
✔I'll tell you how to make the most out of my city and give you tips where to go for best food/ coffee/ beer...
✔After the tour you'll get a list of recommendations (places where locals go and all tested by me)
✔You will have great fun and meet new friends
Our tour is going to be a local's perspective of Ljubljana, so be prepared to learn some secrets and enjoy city's laid-back vibe. If the tour is not available at your desired time please contact me and I’ll do my best to figure out how to make it possible for you.
We will meet at the statue, right at the feet of Mr Preseren.
After arrival to the Ljubljana castle the tour ends.
Welcome to the meeting location, the square, dedicated to the greatest Slovenian poet, that was in my opinion actually quite a rock'n'roller.
Fascinating Triple Bridge carries a beautiful story of a devestating earthquake back in 1895 and Slovenia's progressive architect Jožef Plečenik, who throughout the renovation managed to turn Ljubljana into an architecturally rich and interesting capital.
Meet a vibrant part of the city, located on a river bank, that is just bursting with locals' energy. You'll learn about how it looked like 12 years ago, what actually changed in 2010 and what kind of impact the change has on the local life.
You ever felt like butchers must be noughty guys? What a story behind this weird and fascinating bridge! Not to be missed when in Ljubljana.
Locals' favourite dontown street and I'll share with you all the reasons for it. Colorful, food - scented and ... still a locals' streeet.
Welcome to THE alternative cultural zone that has its own rules and is filled with street art, art studios, night clubs and lots of memories of mine. Fascinating and unique and a huge part of Ljubljana's local life.
All of a sudden Ljubljana is all about the dragons... until you hear the local's perspective on the hype. Putting that aside, the bridge does tell a fascinating story and is a great example of the position of our nation back in the days.
Farmers market in the city center is THE place for local life. Ljubljana is so small it really doesn't have local and touristic districts. It is all mixed and the market is a perfect example. Learn about the local products, different Slovenian regions and cuisine, and the importance of the market for the people of Ljubljana. This is also the spot where we will try the traditional Slovenian pastry, that today has an EU geographically protected status.
Get ready for a slow stroll along the oldest (and in my opinion most beautiful) part of the city, constructed in the 13th century and yet not looking typically medieval. You'll learn why the architecture of this gorgeous hart of the city center is a bit different than one would expect. We'll also discuss the evolution of the Old City in the past 30 years. Amazing!
We'll take a slow walk to the castle hill, using a sideway that is never overcrowded with people and therefore popular with Ljubljanians. We'll enjoy beautiful views and learn how close to the city bears live. We'll wrap our tour with an arrival to the Castle. The rest is up to you - you can take your time and enjoy everything the castle has to offer or you can just enjoy the views, take it easy and slowly return to the downtown.
